Safety Essentials for Delivery Drivers This Holiday Season

The holiday season is a huge season for many retail and logistics businesses. Employers are bumping up the staff to compensate for the influx of work around this time of year. With new workers, comes new risk. Making sure the new hires are safe and have the tools necessary to prevent workplace injuries are crucial to keeping the claims low, and the employees safe. Safety National released an article written by Barton, to highlight some key tips to help keep employees safe this season. The first tip is making sure employees are provided the proper footwear. According to the article, the right footwear can reduce injuries from slips and falls by 50%. This statistic is based on a NOISH-funded research footwear program. The second tip is to offer pre- and post-employment resting to ensure drivers are prepared for work. The last tip they talk about is to establish guidelines for employees, such as curfews, prevention practices in case of theft or assault, and making sure to deliver in daylight.  Protect your employees this holiday season and make sure they are prepared for the work they might face.
