US DOL Awards $1.9M to 14 Orgs for Safety and Health Training; Infectious Disease Recognition

Employee safety training and education is one of the best ways to reduce any workplace injuries. Recently, the Department of Labor awarded $1.9 million to fund education and training programs focusing on helping workers recognize infectious disease hazards. This money was awarded to 14 non-profits nationwide. The grants step from the Susan Hardwood Workplace Safety and Health Training program through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. Through the Department of Labor’s OSHA, these grants include additional training on workers’ rights and employer responsibilities. Specialized training is available through many different programs, and these trainings are important to keep a safe work environment, as well as educate employees on their workplace, and how to avoid injury while on the job. Most of the target trainees OSHA has granted the award to are small, underserved businesses, and vulnerable high-hazard industries. To see a full list of recipients, check out the link below.
