The Lack of Safeguards in Workers Comp

Making sure your company has the proper safety standards and procedures for your employees is an excellent way to ensure you minimize the risk of claims. When you have a business that lacks safety standards and procedures, it leaves room for error, as well as room for your employees to get injured. When regulations are in place in case of an accident, things can run smoother than if there were no safety regulations at all. When it comes to workers comp, you can significantly reduce your risk when you have these action items in place. One article from the Insurance Journal, talks about an explosion at an oil refinery back in 2018. There have been numerous reports and an investigation that came from this, and the most recent report found that a lack of safeguards was the cause. The article mentions that workers of the factory were unaware of the shutdown procedures, had a lack of training, and no knowledge of other incidents of the same nature. Not only this, but the facility lacked safety measures such as ventilation, and other equipment to prevent this type of incident from occurring.  All these things together create a pretty hazardous environment for the business, and the employees. This is one example of why safety measures should be in place. Businesses should be prepared, and train employees on how to stay safe in the workplace. Not only will you prevent injuries, but you can also reduce risk and claims.
