Wearable Technology to Revolutionize Ergonomics

What is a ‘wearable’? A wearable is something that can monitor and correct a worker’s posture or poor movement while working under dangerous working conditions that they, you guessed it, wear. These wearables can benefit various professions, but most definitely the laborious ones like warehouses and manufacturers. In the article written by Autumn Demberger, she talks about the company StrongArm Technologies, and how they are manufacturing technology that can reduce workplace injuries with their wearable technology.  She also brings in the statistic of about 1,176,340 non-fatal injuries, as reported by the National Safety Council, that caused workers in the labor industry to miss at least one day of work. Making sure your employees are as safe as possible while at work is going to greatly reduce the risk of injury and claims, as well as losses for the company. Demberger writes about Charlie Acosta, head of insurance with StrongArm, who mentions that this technology can be the “voice of the employee” taking note of their movements and reporting wrong or dangerous movements to the safety directors.
